How often should I have chimney swept?
How often you need a chimney cleaning depends on how often you are using your fireplace or woodstove. If you are only using it on weekends or holidays, cleaning can be performed every 2 to 3 years. If you are using it as a heat source during the winter months, then cleaning would need to be done yearly. A good rule of thumb is that cleanings should be done after burning a cord to a cord and a half of wood, which is about 50 fires a year. If you need your chimney cleaned for this upcoming year, schedule an appointment today!
How long does a chimney service appointment take?
It usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour for chimney cleaning depending on how dirty the chimney is and what the setup is like. It’s a mess-free service, so you don’t have to worry about cleaning after it’s completed. After your service, we will inspect the chimney to make sure it’s satisfactory for your upcoming service. At this time, we’ll answer any questions you have about usage.
How should I prepare for your arrival?
Please be home for our appointment and make sure there is a clear path to the appliance we’ll be working on. Then, just let us do our magic. For reliable chimney cleaning services, give us a call today!

What are the benefits of regular cleanings?
CSIA and other reputable chimney companies promote regular chimney cleaning, sweeping, and inspections. This will allow you to enjoy your fireplace and stove safely and consistently.
Why is it important to get my chimney cleaned regularly?
Dirty chimneys are the cause of chimney fires due to creosote buildup. Creosote is the byproduct of burning wood and it is highly flammable. Not only can this damage your chimney but also your home.
What is the importance of a chimney cap?
A chimney cap is a metal cover that goes over your chimney to help keep the structure safe. It serves multiple purposes which are:
- It prevents escaping sparks and embers from starting a fire on your roof or other nearby flammable structures.
- It keeps animals outside of your chimney. If there is nothing covering the top of your chimney, it is easy for birds, squirrels, and other animals to get in and nest. In some cases, animals can even get inside of your home.
- It keeps out leaves, branches, and other debris from getting inside your chimney.
- Finally, it keeps rainwater out. Rainwater in the chimney can mix with the acids found in soot which can cause cracks and other damage to the chimney interior.
